This year long blanket MAL will include a mystery each month based on mystery books in 4 categories that alternate each month throughout the year!

We will be knitting the Sweet Shop Blanket by Laura Penrose or crocheting The Little Squares Blanket by Julie Harrison.
Knitters options are for fingering and DK. Fingering can be held double for marling look. Perfect opportunity to use a wanderling from your swag bag if you purchased one to hold two minis together!

We will be using the hashtag
#Letthemysteryunravelmal2026 on Instagram. Colors will be a mash up of variegated, tonal, and speckled techniques with a wide variety of colors- bright pops of color, pastel, and neutrals! Get 10% off the make along if you buy the whole year up front!
We will be completing pieces of the blanket each month as we unravel the mystery! This MAL makes the bigger project goals of a blanket/throw an easy way to break down small bits throughout the year to make it amazingly easy to finish and stay on task completing your blanket! The mysteries each month keep it super fun and interesting to get to the next "clue." Each box comes with twelve 10g mini skeins with mystery clues and storytelling included along the way! Each person is required to knit/crochet 6 squares a month to be entered to win monthly prizes.
Suggested sweet shop blanket size- 8 squares x 9 squares.
Suggested Crochet strips contain 8 squares with a total of 9 strips.
If you get 6 colors per month this means you'd have to add squares to your strip the following month and plan ahead.

Rules:
Please feel free to mix and match your colors to your liking- there is no specific order in which you have to group your colors even though they come as a bundle each month. Make it truly your own and special. Some people like to knit the colors directly as they come each month and others mix and match throughout the months.
Each mini skein is a “clue unraveled” included is a clue log sheet as you knit/crochet each piece of your blanket. This is just for fun! This is a laid back MAL to read along and enjoy the mysteries unravel as your blanket comes together- The only thing you need to do to be entered to win prizes is to post your finished monthly knitted or crocheted blanket pieces (you must have all 12 colors knitted or crocheted) in a photo on instagram using the hashtag #Letthemysteryunravelmal2026 (Do not worry about revealing anything the clue logs say online- these are not for the mystery monthly win, just fun! Winning prizes is solely based on knitting or crocheting the 12 minis during the month each month.You do not need to use every bit of each mini. It is not a race- If you get all 12 knitted or crocheted in a given month and you post using the hashtag, you are entered for the monthly prize (this is not the same as the grand prize) it is in addition to grand prizes at the end and prizes for activity nights. The monthly prize is a colorway or sock set of your choice from the shop and a SamsTinyTrinket from the shop!
You must finish and block (if desired) the blanket to be entered for grand prizes by OCTOBER 1, 2027.

Each Month's shipment:
YARN ONLY OR YARN+CHARMS BOX OPTIONS:
*Knitting boxes have 6 colored mini skeins and 6 natural white mini skeins to make both triangle that make up each square -choose between 75/25 SWmerino/Nylon approx 46yds/10g or DK - if you don't choose knitters will get fingering weight.
OR
Crochet boxes have 6 colored 10g minis with one 50g natural white skein for borders and edges- DK 24yds/10g for crocheters
*A set of 2 SamsTinyTrinkets charms (IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION-otherwise it's yarn only) These will be a variety of polymer clay and handmade wooden charms.
*"Clues" included to follow the unraveling of stories each month
*Your First shipment will include a swag bag if you purchased one.

Mystery Books explorerd can touch on a veriety of sensitive topics that can have depictions of crime and murder- please be aware of this as some of the content may be sensitive topics included in crimes. We adapt our activities and clues to be tasteful for a MAL.

Your recurring charges for the year will begin on October 1st and charge every 1st of the month for 1 year. Changes must be made 2 weeks before the 1st of each month. Your original pre order is for your first shipment's payment.
WHEN: MAL kicks off October 1st and runs for 1 year. Your boxes will ship in time each month to get to you for each start date.
GRAND PRIZES: include an assortment of Book and mystery themed gifts. Can include bags, sock blockers, yarn, charms, craft room decor, candles, lotion bars, wool wash, notions, and knitting or crochet tools incuding the book colletion of the 12 books we are exploring.
We will be providing the grand prize winner several of these items totaling approx. $300 or more in winnings.
